Yay! The international competition of Qara Film Festival's second edition is now open for submissions!

QaraFest invites feature-length documentary films and hybrid films to participate.
We are looking for films which introduce the audience to unique characters, reflect on relevant issues of the current socio political context, invite one to part with false prejudices and, of course, inspire. The competition will include films featuring artistic choices that enrich the story and help one immerse themselves in it. We welcome bold experiments with both the form and the content.
Submission requirements:
1. Genre: documentary or hybrid film created between 2019 and 2021
2. The film must not be shown at the cinemas, TV or online streaming services in Kazakhstan in the month of August 2021.
3. An unlisted link to the film is required for selection purposes; the film should not be openly available to be viewed at international online platforms, such as YouTube, Vimeo, and the like.
4. Duration - 60 minutes or longer.
5. In case the film is selected, it will need to be subtitled in both Kazakh and Russian and delivered to us in both DCP and ProRes formats.
6. Submissions are open until 10 June 2021.
